Our Research

Martin Bionics Innovations has a rich history of biomimetic design. With a history of focus on advanced prosthetics, many of these designs have shaped man/machine connectivity.  As new technologies in computing, materials, and engineering emerge, they promise to greatly enhance opportunity of design, and alter the quality of life for users of our new technologies.

Prosthetics technologies developed by Martin Bionics, our prior company chapter, included designs that allow prosthetics to sense, think, and respond to the environment, adapt to the user, and provide mechanical connectivity with increased comfort and security.  Martin Bionics played a key role on various projects including the DARPA Revolutionizing Prosthetics 2009 program.

Martin Bionics lead the way in the critical fields of adaptive control systems, environmental feedback, miniaturization, materials design and utilization, and motorized articulation for the next generation of prosthetics.  In 2008 Martin Bionics merged its prosthetics innovations and engineering team with Orthocare Innovations, who is now a forefront leader in advancing the next generation of prosthetics.

In our new chapter, as Martin Bionics Innovations, much of our focus is on solving design issues outside of prosthetics.  There are a host of outstanding challenges in our world around us.  We believe many of these can be met through biomimetic design - taking inspiration from creation around us.

We hope that our materials further help to empower others to have an even greater impact on changing our world than we do.
